ICRC assists with the evacuation of 1,000 people from Mariupol, Ukraine
KIEV, Ukraine, April 7 (Xinhua) — The International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) assisted in the evacuation of over 1,000 civilians from Ukraine’s conflict-affected city of Mariupol in the eastern Donetsk region.
The International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) has led a convoy of buses and private cars carrying civilians from Mariupol to Ukraine’s southern city of Zaporizhzhia, the ICRC stated in a statement on Wednesday.
The ICRC stated that it is ready to assist civilians in escaping Mariupol and other cities in a secure manner.
Separately, Ukrainian Deputy Prime Minister Iryna Vereshchuk said on Telegram on Wednesday that 4,892 individuals have been evacuated from conflict-affected districts in Ukraine.
