The FIA’s Cyber Crime Wing has a new leader.
Dr. Sanaullah Abbasi, Director-General of the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA), named DIG Humayun Bashir Tarar as the new head of the Cyber Crime Wing on Thursday. DIG Babar Bakht Qureshi was transferred from the position on Wednesday.
DIG Humayun Bashir Tarar was a member of the Pakistan Police Service (PSP) and served as DIG Traffic in Peshawar, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
Mr. Tarar has taken over at a time when a social media smear campaign has been launched against Pakistan’s military leadership and Supreme Court since former Prime Minister Imran Khan was dismissed from office on April 10 following a successful vote of no-confidence.
Several cases have been filed with the FIA, according to officials.
