The Prime Minister declares his commitment to polio eradication.
Shehbaz Sharif, the Prime Minister of Pakistan, has stated that his government is committed to eliminating polio from the country.
Shehbaz Sharif stated in a tweet on Tuesday that any slackness in the national campaign against polio would be met with zero tolerance.
“Our anti-polio campaign will now concentrate on the districts of South Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, especially Bannu and North and South Waziristan,” he stated.
Shehbaz Sharif stated that the most effective officials would be recognized as national heroes.
Pakistan had recorded its first case in North Waziristan after a 15-month hiatus on April 23.
According to reports, a 15-month-old boy in North Carolina was paralyzed by the wild poliovirus on April 22.
Pakistan’s national polio laboratory identified the virus in the patient after enjoying polio-free status for nearly a year.
Shehbaz Sharif has expressed grave concern about the situation in the country and asked the relevant authorities to create a full report on the reasons for it.
The Prime Minister has also given orders to develop a strategy for poliovirus eradication in the country.
