Champions Trophy: ICC, PCB, BCCI, and global boards race to end stalemate

The issue surrounding the hosting of the 2025 ICC Champions Trophy remains unresolved as a deadlock persists between the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), the International Cricket Council (ICC), and the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI).

Sources indicate that cricket boards from Australia, New Zealand, and South Africa have also stepped into the discussion, urging the ICC to resolve the matter promptly.

The three boards reportedly contacted the ICC to express concerns about the uncertainty surrounding the tournament. They emphasized the need for clarity regarding the schedule and hosting arrangements.

According to sources, the boards have also shown support for Pakistan’s stance and highlighted the potential repercussions if India continues to refuse participation in Pakistan-hosted tournaments.

The PCB has reiterated its position, stating it will not compromise unless the BCCI provides written guarantees for its participation. Pakistan’s federal government has advised against taking any risks and insists on clear commitments from India before moving forward.

The situation has fueled concerns among cricketing nations about future tournaments.
