Despite heavy restrictions second phase of the PDM’s protests begin today
Pakistan’s Opposition alliance has announced the schedule of its second wave of protests to oust the Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) government, starting with a public meeting in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s central city, Mardan, on Wednesday.
The district administration said it has decided not to allow Opposition leaders to hold the public procession given the rising numbers of coronavirus infections across the country.
Minister for Information and Broadcasting Senator Shibli Faraz in a tweet today said that the Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM), an alliance of opposition parties, would get nothing but disgrace in its anti-government move as they were following the agenda of personal gains, setting aside national interests.

The minister, in the tweet, said the alliance was badly exposed in the daylight and destined to meet disgrace in public due to their personal interests and lack of trust in each other, saying “Yeh Saanjh Ki Handiya Beech Chorahay Phoot Rahi Hay.”
He said the recent statements of veteran leaders of (JUI-F) Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl Maulana Muhammad Khan Sherani and Hafiz Hussain Ahmed were conspicuous examples.
Talking about the Pakistan Development Movement (PDM), Shibli Faraz further said that those running a drive against the government were having differences within their own parties and were “destined to bite the dust”.
He said senior leaders including Maulana Sheerani, Gul Naseeb, and Hafiz Hussain Ahmed in the JUI-F spoke about Maulana Fazl ur Rehman, calling him the “selected one” laid bare the differences within the party.
The federal cabinet said PDM’s end would end politics of many parties and leaders. He welcomed PPP chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari’s statement on taking part in the by-elections but added that “at one hand, he talks about resignations and on the other hand he wants to take part in the by-elections.”
According to details, Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F) chief and head of PDM Maulana Fazlur Rehman will lead the rally.
Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) vice president Maryam Nawaz will also arrive at the venue in a caravan through Colonel Sher Khan Interchange.
Strict security arrangements for rallies and other meetings have been made.
The Mardan Ring Road and other roads and streets leading to the Gaju Khan Baba flyover and Swabi and Nowshera road are decorated with party flags and banners of all the component parties of the PDM.
