The UN head urges democratic processes and institutions to be respected

Antonio Guterres, the Secretary-General of the United Nations, has urged Pakistan to respect democratic processes and institutions.

Farhan Aziz Haq, the UN Chief’s Deputy Spokesman, spoke about the political events in Pakistan and highlighted the importance of settling conflicts in accordance with the country’s constitution.

Meanwhile, Pakistan has received assurances from the International Monetary Fund (IMF) that it will continue to support the country after a new administration is formed.

The IMF stated in a brief statement that there was no intention of suspending the programme.

“The Finance Division and IMF remain engaged in data sharing and reform negotiations as part of the Extended Fund Facility,” the Finance Ministry said in a tweet.

It dismissed the rumour.
