Islamabad is on heightened security alert ahead of today’s NA session
ISLAMABAD: The National Assembly will hold a raucous session today, with the no-confidence resolution against Prime Minister Imran Khan on the agenda.
Security has been stepped up in Islamabad ahead of today’s NA session.
Rangers, FC authorities have been stationed in the area for the session, which will begin at 10:30 a.m.
The no-confidence motion, which is the fourth item on the six-point agenda, should be included here.
Notably, the Supreme Court took notice of the political turbulence when Prime Minister Imran Khan dissolved the National Assembly on Sunday, after a contentious order by the NA deputy speaker.
On Thursday, the Supreme Court ordered NA Speaker Asad Qaiser to call a special session on Saturday (today) to allow for the vote.
The Supreme Court further stated that the session could not be adjourned until the no-trust motion against Prime Minister Imran Khan was resolved.
“The resolution was declared pending and subsisting at all times and continues to be pending and subsisting.”
PM Imran Khan, on the other side, spoke to the country on Friday, calling for a nonviolent protest against the “imported government.”
The Prime Minister asked the people, particularly the youth, to stand up for their sovereignty and voiced his unhappiness with the Supreme Court’s decision.
