Two South African players  tested positive for the COVID-19

South Africa has confirmed that opener Sarel Erwee and all-rounder Wiaan Mulder have tested positive for COVID-19 and will miss the remainder of the second Test against Bangladesh, which is presently being played in Port Elizabeth.

Erwee has been replaced by Khaya Zondo, who is making his Test debut for the Proteas. Glenton Stuurman will take Mulder’s place in the starting lineup. According to a statement from Cricket South Africa, both players felt ill and returned positive Tests the next morning.

The CSA has now implemented the COVID-19 substitution policy, which was agreed upon with the Bangladesh Cricket Board prior to the start of the tour.

“It’s a sad circumstance, but it’s not the end of the world.”
