Ministers are anticipated to take the oath in the first round.
According to reports, PPP co-chairman Asif Ali Zardari asked Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif to grant cabinet places to all coalition members in the first phase, with PPP joining in the second phase.
PM Shehbaz and PPP co-chairman Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari called on PM Shehbaz to finalize the cabinet on Saturday night at PM House.
According to insiders, roughly 10-12 ministers are anticipated to take the oath on Monday or Tuesday in the first phase of the government.
Asif Zardari had previously told a journalist on Saturday that the PPP would not join the cabinet because he wanted the coalition partners to be accommodated first.
Senior PPP leaders began to explain his comments, claiming that he did not mean that the party would not join the cabinet.
According to PPP sources, the party would have 11 cabinet positions, while the PML-N will have 14. According to the government’s political committee, the PML-N would get the ministries of finance, interior, planning and development, defense, and energy, including water and power, as well as the Petroleum Division, while the PPP will get the ministries of foreign affairs and human rights.
According to the sources, the PPP and MQM-P would decide on the Ministries of Port and Shipping and Overseas Pakistanis, whereas the PPP and PML-N will decide on the Ministries of Commerce and Communications.
If Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari joins the cabinet, he will be Minister of Foreign Affairs, with Hina Rabbani Khar as Minister of State for Foreign Affairs and either Shazia Marri or Senator Mustafa Nawaz Kokhar as Minister of Human Rights.
From the PML-N, Ahsan Iqbal is expected to be appointed to the Ministry of Planning and Development, Marriyum Aurangzeb to the Ministry of Information, Rana Sanaullah to the Ministry of Interior, Rana Tanveer Hussain to the Ministry of Parliamentary Affairs, and Miftah Ismail to the Ministry of Finance.
Meanwhile, federal ministers Khawaja Muhammad Asif and Khurram Dastgir will take their oaths. Murtaza Javed Abbasi could become the National Assembly’s deputy speaker.
