Sri Lanka sends a delegate to the IMF.
On Sunday, the Sri Lankan government sent a delegation to the International Monetary Fund (IMF) to explore possible IMF loans.
The delegation includes Finance Minister Ali Sabry and Central Bank Governor Nandalal Weerasinghe. The delegation will visit Washington, DC, next week to meet with IMF officials.
If the talks with the IMF go well, they expect to get around $4 billion in five instalments.
Sri Lanka’s economy has been in a downward spiral, and the country’s foreign exchange reserves are less than $2 billion.
Sri Lanka’s Finance Ministry announced on Tuesday that the government had decided to suspend routine debt servicing for a limited time until further notice.
