Netherlands Coach was put into an induced coma.

After suffering a heart attack on Saturday, Ryan Campbell, the current head coach of the Netherlands men’s team, was taken out of an induced coma but remains in intensive care.

On Saturday, the fifty-year-old had chest pains and difficulty breathing while out with his family in the United Kingdom.

According to Campbell’s brother Mark, who spoke on local radio on Tuesday, doctors performed a successful operation with no signs of brain damage.

“He has awoken after the strong sedation was lifted.”

“Right now, they’re simply figuring out what’s wrong with his heart,” Mark Campbell explained.

“They’re still baffled as to why his heart continues to race. So that’s something they’ll look into more over there.”

Campbell had just returned to Europe after a tour of New Zealand with the Dutch team, and had just spent a week in Perth visiting friends and extended family.

Campbell, a former international player for both Australia and Hong Kong, was named Dutch coach in January 2017.

At 44 years and 30 days, he made his T20I debut for Hong Kong in the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup in 2016, becoming him the oldest player to do so.
