Debanhi Escobar’s abduction has been solved
Debanhi Escobar’s abduction has been solved, with the teen’s body recovered in a hotel cistern after the final shot on “death road.”
According to the girl’s bereaved father, the body of a teenager shown in a heinous final image was recovered in a hotel cistern.
Debanhi Escobar was last seen standing on “death road” two weeks ago before disappearing into thin air.
Mario Escobar, her father, has now verified to El Pais that his daughter was found dead on Thursday.
“My daughter has died,” he stated. And I’m at a loss for words.”
Officials have yet to determine if the discovered body is Debanhi’s.
The State Prosecutor’s Office claimed in a statement that “investigative agents assigned to the case discovered a dead corpse within an abandoned water cistern.”
“I want an explanation for Debanhi’s disappearance,” Mario remarked.
Escobar, 18, went missing after a night out in Nuevo León, Mexico, with two friends.
On April 8, she had spent the evening drinking in Escobedo until she got into an argument with one of her pals.
Debhani was driven home by an off-duty taxi driver known to the group and only identified as 47-year-old Jess.
However, it is reported that the child and the driver had a “heated quarrel” throughout the journey.
When his ridesharing app was unexpectedly shut off during the trip, Jess, the cab driver, abandoned Debhani by the side of the road.
He left her on the side of the highway going to Nuevo Laredo, Tamaulipas’ border town, sometimes known as the “death path.”
The gloomy title was given to the bleak 219-kilometer region by the astounding number of people who went missing there.
Jess, a cab driver, then took the final photograph of Debhani, who was last seen alive, and texted it to her friends about 1 a.m.
On Tuesday, the cabbie was detained and questioned by officials in connection with Debahni’s kidnapping. He has previously been investigated for harassing women and attempting to kidnap them.
In the final shot he snapped of her, clothed in a crop top and long skirt, the 18-year-old can be seen firmly looking away and glancing down the road.
She was later seen on security video shortly after entering Alcosa Transportes Internacionales, a trucking company.
Debhani, on the other hand, was nowhere to be seen.
Bodies were later discovered placed along the spooky road, which is dreaded by locals and where 77 people went missing only last year.
Several survivors have given terrifying descriptions of being assaulted by armed attackers.
Every day, seven women are reported missing in Mexico.
The bulk of cases, according to information analysed by Mexico’s National Missing Persons Commission, are centred in the states of Mexico, Morelos, Jalisco, and Nuevo León.
According to Nuevo León Governor Samuel Garca and state security chief Aldo Fasci, authorities from Baja California, Durango, and Tamaulipas have joined the search for Debhani.
