Russia admits to launching a “high-precision” attack on Kyiv.
On Friday, Russia’s defense ministry reported that an air strike on Kyiv occurred during the arrival of United Nations Secretary-General Antonio Guterres.
“Russian Aerospace Forces’ high-precision, long-range air-based weapons have destroyed the Artyom missile and space enterprise’s production buildings in Kyiv,” the ministry said in its daily update on the Ukrainian war.
Ukraine confirmed on Friday that one person was killed in the hit on Thursday, the first in the capital in almost two weeks and described by Guterres’ spokesman as “terrible.”
Guterres paid a visit to Bucha and other Kyiv regions where Moscow is accused of war crimes on Thursday.
On Thursday, the defense ministry said its soldiers carried out a series of air strikes, destroying three power substations at Ukrainian railway hubs as well as a Tochka-U missile launcher that it said was used in an attack on the Russian-controlled city of Kherson.
