Imran Khan breaks his silence regarding the Masjid-e-Nabawi tragedy
ISLAMABAD: The incidence of hooliganism at Masjid-e-Nabawi, described as a “public response,” was a “consequence” of their actions, said deposed Prime Minister Imran Khan on Friday.
On Thursday, a group of Pakistani protestors defiled the sanctity of Madina’s Masjid-e-Nabawi by chanting anti-Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and his team as they entered the holy mosque to pay their respects at the Roza-e-Rasool (PBUH).
Following the occurrence, Pakistan’s political and religious leaders, as well as people from many sectors of society, strongly denounced it.
After remaining silent for more than 24 hours, Imran Khan stated that the masses had never reacted in such a way in the country’s history.
“We are not urging the people to come out; the public is going out to protest because they are in agony and fury,” he continued. “However, I challenge them [the rulers] not to show their faces in any public area.”
