Apple has postponed Will Smith’s film Emancipation until 2023.
According to rumors, Apple has delayed the release of Will Smith‘s next film, Emancipation, in the wake of his now-famous Oscars smack of Chris Rock.
Apple Original Films and Smith’s Westbrook Studios are producing the next drama, which is slated to premiere this year. However, insiders claim that the picture will not be released until 2023,’ according to them. Variety reports that
The Antoine Fuqua-directed film was already gaining awards buzz before this year’s Oscars, but Smith’s on-camera assault on Chris Rock put the studio on the defensive.
Before he hit Chris Rock in the head, the 53-year-performance old’s was expected to earn him an Oscar nomination.
The historical drama, which would have been Smith’s first following the trauma, would not be released until 2023, according to Variety.
