Omicron sub-variant has been discovered for the first time in Pakistan.
The first incidence of Omicron sub-variant BA.2.12.1 was discovered in Pakistan, according to the National Institute of Health (NIH).
The institution stated the sub-variant was causing a “growing number of cases in different nations” since the National Command and Operation Centre was formally shut down.
“Covid-19 vaccine is the best preventive approach (apart from wearing a mask in crowded situations). We strongly advised being vaccinated, and anyone who needs booster doses should do so right away “Added the institute.
The new Omicron sub-variant is a descendant of the previously super-contagious “stealth Omicron,” and it has quickly spread across the United States.
According to data from the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, BA.2.12.1 was responsible for 29% of new Covid-19 infections in the third week of April. In the New York area, it was responsible for 58 percent of reported illnesses.
The variant has been found in at least 13 different nations, but it is most prevalent in the United States. It spreads even quicker than stealth Omicron, according to scientists.
The development comes as the number of Covid-19 cases in Pakistan has decreased dramatically in recent weeks.
Since April 27, fewer than 100 Covid-19 instances have been recorded every day, with the country reporting only 64 cases on Monday.
