Chelsea merged Manchester United in a deal war.

According to rumors, Chelsea has joined Manchester United in their pursuit of RB Leipzig forward Christopher Nkunku.

After netting 34 goals in 50 appearances for the German club this season, the 24-year-old Frenchman has piqued the interest of the Premier League giants.

He scored in RB Leipzig’s shock Europa League loss to Rangers last week on British soil.

And the former Paris Saint-Germain attacker backed that up with a brace in Augsburg’s 4-0 win over the weekend.

According to Sky Sports, Thomas Tuchel is interested in bringing him to Chelsea, a move that might detract from Man City’s dominance.

Nkunku, on the other hand, does not currently have a release clause, and the Bundesliga club is anxious to keep him, with rumors claiming they are considering extending his contract, which expires in 2024.

RB Leipzig director Oliver Mintzlaff stated earlier this month that Nkunku will not be leaving the club at the conclusion of the season.

“We have certainly addressed it internally,” he remarked when questioned about the forward’s future.

We informed Nkunku and his agent that we wouldn’t allow him depart this summer.”

“Leipzig will also try to extend his contract,” said transfer specialist Fabrizio Romano, “although talks are still in the early stages.”

However, speculation over his future in Germany has lingered.

And a move to Chelsea might put Romelu Lukaku’s career in jeopardy.
