Shahbaz Gill’s wife discovered to be Rs18.6 million defaulter.

Izza Asad Rasool, the wife of PTI leader Shahbaz Gill, has been found to owe roughly Rs18.6 million to the Commission on Science and Technology for Sustainable Development in the South (COMSATS) University in Islamabad, according to a show-cause notice received by the institution on Thursday.

Meanwhile, Gill is accused of using his power to threaten the management of COMSATS in order to prevent disciplinary action against his wife.

Gill was contacted in this respect, however he did not answer to phone calls or a text message query.

The COMSATS University has requested reimbursement of official expenses totaling $99,000 and Rs86,000, which were incurred for tuition, living allowance, and flights.

Rasool moved to the United States 11 years ago in 2011 to pursue an MS leading to a PhD in Labor and Industrial Relations at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, according to the notification (UIUC). The scholar was supposed to finish her studies and return to Pakistan by 2016, but she didn’t.

Rasool, on the other hand, was not married to Gill, who works at the same American university, when she departed for her studies, but they married in December 2011.

Rasool did not complete her studies by the deadline, according to the notice, and she was also late in submitting her academic progress reports, which are required every six months.

Izza also did not petition for an extension of her COMSATS job contract, which expired on June 30, 2016, nor did she request an extension of her ex-Pakistan leave, which was allowed from August 1, 2011, to July 31, 2012.

Rasool has been given 15 days to respond to this notification or the university will take legal and administrative action against her.

It’s worth noting that Rasool has not returned to Pakistan since leaving for the United States.
