Manchester City’s Sergio Aguero statue
Manchester City’s Sergio Aguero statue after it was pointed out that it resembles the Real Madrid striker.
On Friday, a memorial to the legendary City striker was revealed, depicting his famous stoppage-time winner in 2012, which gave the team their first Premier League title.
Fans quickly pointed out that it looked more like Real Madrid’s Kroos than Aguero.
And the 32-year-old German answered beautifully with a single phrase.
He tweeted a photo of the statue with the message “Sergio is here,” along with the words “Sure?”
“Nice gesture by Man City to honour Toni Kroos for his contribution in knocking them out of the #UCL this season,” one fan said of the statue.
“The way Aguero was looking at the statue man couldn’t believe that’s him,” another added.
Aguero was present for the unveiling of his statue, which commemorates his career-defining event ten years ago.
And the Argentine, who has 260 goals in 390 games for City, was moved by the club’s gesture.
“Truly, it is a very beautiful event for me,” he remarked.
