Viewers criticized Tom Cruise for promoting his new picture.

While anchoring the live televised event on, presenters Phillip Schofield and Julie Etchingham spoke with the Top Gun 2 star.

Viewers lambasted Tom for ‘plugging’ his upcoming flick Top Gun: Maverick during his interview.

One of the first guests to sit down with Phil and Julie was megastar Tom, 59, who told them about his affection for the United Kingdom and, in particular, The Queen.

But Tom couldn’t help himself from plugging his new picture, and he was soon talking about it in great detail.

“Every film I do is essential,” the Hollywood actor remarked, “but this one has been requested for decades.”

“I’ve been wondering what I could accomplish for decades.”

The fact that Tom was using the opportunity to promote the sequel to the 1986 film did not impress the audience.

“So you think #TomCruise would have come here for #platinumjubilee if he didn’t have a huge film release?” one wrote.

“Thought it was the Queen’s Jubilee not an occasion for Tom Cruise to advertise himself,” another wrote.
