England speed bowler will skip the summer.

After suffering a stress fracture in his lower back, England fast bowler Jofra Archer will miss the full season.

It’s another setback for the 27-year-old, who hasn’t played since July due to two elbow surgeries.

Archer was on the mend and expected to return to domestic cricket this month, only to experience back pain last week.

He’ll also miss the T20 World Cup in Australia this fall, with no timetable for his return set.

It’s the latest injury to an England speed bowler, who have been ruled out of the summer’s first Test against New Zealand, including Archer.

Four of the remaining six players have back injuries: Sam Curran, Olly Stone, Matt Fisher, and Saqib Mahmood.

This new setback will worry Archer, who was once England’s most intriguing pace prospect but is now set to miss more than a year of action.

He was called up just before the 2019 World Cup and bowled the ‘super over’ that helped England beat New Zealand in the final at Lord’s.

Later that summer, he made his Test debut against Australia on the same pitch, bowling a violent stint that left Steve Smith with a concussion after being struck on the helmet.

Archer has 86 international wickets after appearing in 13 Tests, 17 one-dayers, and 12 T20s for England.

He’s also had a successful franchise career.
