Terrifying moment a toddler plummeted 20 feet down a “faulty” sewage drain shaft.
Mother who thinks quickly Amy Blyth, 23, rushed in to save 18-month-old Theo Prior from the smelly shaft in Ashford, Kent, as human excrement was poured on them.
The terrifying moment the toddler fell down the hole was seen on CCTV from a nearby residence.
It shows the 23-year-old personal trainer out strolling with toddler Theo as he goes to check a drain cover that appears to have fallen loose.
He stood on top of it, then fell straight down the 20-foot hole as the lid closed on top of him.
Amy, a terrified mother of one, shouted as she watched him vanish before her eyes.
Fortunately, she was able to get hold of him and drag him out, but his clothes were coated in human faeces as a result of the awful fall.
Amy, from Tenterden, Kent, was walking in nearby Ashford on Sunday when the terrifying incident occurred.
“It was by far the scariest, most traumatizing day of my life,” she said.
Never in a million years would I imagine myself pulling a drain lid to try to save my precious baby.
