The widow of a London Bridge terrorist forms an unusual bond with the SURVIVOR of her husband’s attack.
Rachid Redouane’s widow has formed an extraordinary bond with a woman whose fiance was killed in the atrocity.
At an emotional meeting, Charisse O’Leary and attack survivor Christine Delcros hugged and wept.
They now exchange greetings at Christmas and on the anniversary of the attacks.
Next weekend marks five years since Redouane and two other jihadists killed eight people in Borough Market, including Christine’s partner Xavier Thomas, before being shot dead by police.
The terrorists injured 48 people. Charisse had no knowledge of their plot, but her association with Redouane has consumed her with guilt.
And she hasn’t told their six-year-old daughter about his murder spree. She did, however, meet Christine after an inquest determined that the victims were murdered unlawfully.
After being moved to tears by Charisse’s testimony at the victims’ inquest on June 5, 2019, French tourist Christine asked Charisse’s family liaison officer if they could meet.
“It was difficult,” Charisse says. I was scared because I didn’t want to say no but was worried about how she would react when she saw me. “I saw her in court; we were sitting across from each other in the public gallery.” I was always blaming myself. ‘Live your life and don’t blame yourself,’ she advised. She remarked on how moving my evidence was.
