In Pakistan, foreign powers try to impose their narrative: Sheikh Rashid
ISLAMABAD: Pakistani Interior Minister Sheikh Rashid Ahmed warned on Friday that foreign forces were attempting to impose their narrative on the country, but that they would be vanquished.
Sheikh Rashid stated that it was not a question of winning or losing, but rather that the case had exposed all forces. He said that a plot was being developed to smuggle filthy bricks into the fortress of power. Masalay walas and maqsooq chaprasi, he added, will now come to Pakistan.
“We are not going to give up our guns.” The country can’t be ruled by crooks. Against robbers and thieves, we shall battle till the last breath. “Our final choice is resignations,” he explained.
The Supreme Court’s decision in the issue of the National Assembly’s dissolution and the ruling of the NA deputy speaker, he added, had created a wave of sadness among the people.
“The nation knows everything about how and who accomplished this,” he added, adding that he was aware of the issue and requested new elections three months ago. He said he requested the ruling party three months ago to submit resignations and dissolve assemblies.
On April 7, the Supreme Court declared the deputy speaker’s decree unconstitutional and reinstated the dissolved National Assembly in a momentous decision.
The court overturned all of Imran Khan’s and President Arif Alvi’s actions, ruling that the speaker could not adjourn the National Assembly session without a vote on a no-confidence resolution.
The court ordered that the legislature meet on Saturday (April 9) to vote on a resolution of no confidence. It also mandated that the voting process be free of obstructions.
