Oxford Networking Dinner Highlights Pakistan’s Development, Conservation & Global Collaboration
Former President of UK-Pakistan Chamber of Commerce and Industries (UKPCCI), and Oxford-Witney, UK based businessman in Aerospace Industry Sami Ullah hosted a networking dinner in Oxford on 17th June 2026, UK in honour of Prof. Dr. Adil Najam Global President of WWF, the Worldwide Fund for Nature, Tariq Malik former Chairman NADRA, who is now a Technical Advisor of the World Bank, advising countries on Digital Public Infrastructure, (DPI), Digital ID and Identification for Development (ID4D Program). Dr. Ashraf Chohan (Orthopaedic Surgeon) Chairman Conservative Friend of NHS, Acting High Commissioner of Pakistan to UK H.E. Haseeb bin Aziz, Tariq Ghani from Manchester, CEO Olympic Oil, Dr. Ghulam Murtaza Deputy Mayor London Borough of Ealing, Raja Azeem Murtaza a former Pakistani senior bureaucrat, Army and Air Advisor (AA&A) Col. Mohsin Waqar, Ch. Jawad Ali Chatta Counsellor (CA) Pakistan High Commission in London, Professor. Dr. Adeel Malik Globe Fellow in the Economies of Muslim Societies at the Oxford Centre for Islamic Studies and an associate Professor in Development Economics at the University of Oxford’s Department of International Development, and Aadam Samiullah a credit analyst from a London based investment company participated.


At this occasion a book “Quran is A Great Guidance by Maulana Fazal ur Rehman”, maternal uncle of Sami Ullah was presented to Dr. Adil Malik by H.E. Haseeb bin Aziz for the library of Oxford Centre of Islamic Studies. Maulana Fazal ur Rehman is a former cricketer who played cricket for Pakistan in the 1950’s and turned into an Islamic scholar after retiring from cricket. He was right-arm leg -break bowler.


Dinner was enjoyed by all participants. Population increase / planning of Pakistan was discussed. Dr. Chohan, Dr. Adil Najam, Dr. Adeel Malik, and Dr. Murtaza spoke about current situation in Pakistan from Population planning point of view. Dr. Adil spoke about national mammal of Pakistan, Indus River Dolphins also called “bhulan”, their eyes are so small that scientists believe they are functionally blind, sense only light for direction, and another rare species were discussed was national animal of Pakistan “Markhor”, also known as screw-horn or screw horn goat. How these valuable species are being looked after now so their population numbers are increasing. Many Thanks to WWF for working closely with communities, governments, and other relevant partners to protect the Indus River dolphin and many other vanishing wildlife species of Pakistan and their habitats. Evening ended with note of thanks by DR. Ashraf Chohan.
