Giant python lunges at shocked zookeepers face as he tries to grab her eggs
Terrifying footage shows a zookeeper narrowly escaping being attacked by a python as he tried to get hold of her eggs and save her babies.
Jay Brewer, who owns The Reptile Zoo, posted an IGTV on Instagram capturing the moment the massive snakes lunges at him and he manages to get away by a whisker.
The video shows the zookeeper explaining how he intends to remove the few eggs she’s got left before they rot before the python lashes out and Jay “almost getting smoked”.
The python lunges at Jay multiple times but the skilled zookeeper always managed to pull back in time.
The camera captures his initial shock as exclaims “woah” as he realises the lucky escape he’s just had.
Jay, who was assisted by his daughter in the risky operation, can then be heard saying: “I don’t get nervous but this time I’m a little bit nervous.”
Pythons aren’t venomous but they are incredibly strong and when they attack they strike with a force that can be deadly – and which is known to have killed a few humans.
Jay explains to his followers how he is trying to save the snake’s egg so they don’t go bad and he can save the few babies she’s got left.
“The bad news is she’d probably like to tear my head off”, he said.
He captioned the six-minute clip saying: “When I say this snake is gumpy… I mean she’s grumpy!
“This is one of the craziest clutches I’ve pulled in a long time. She doesn’t know I’m just trying to save the few good eggs she has
“Without removing them even the good ones would have rotted.
“That is why I’m willing to take the risk to save the babies.
“Enjoy the crazy IGTV of me almost getting smoked.”
Shocked followers commented on the video, which was seen more than 715,000 times, with one saying: “Bruhhhh!! That strike tickled a eyelash”.
Another branded the zookeeper a “legend”, while one described the moment as “heart-stopping”.
