Bride divides opinions over plans to serve wedding guests McDonald’s

A bride divided opinions for saying she was considering serving guests fast-food at her wedding.

The anonymous woman took to Facebook to ask users to share “some of the things you are doing at your wedding that you don’t see being the norm,” as she revealed she was planning on doing something a little different herself.

Instead of organising a big sit-down meal, she said she wanted to serve a fast-food buffet with McDonald’s, pizza, doughnuts and more, to help save some money.

The bride wrote: “My fiancé and I are super fun people and we want to have a super non-traditional wedding that isn’t going to make us broke.

“I wanted pizza at the wedding and the catering for that was too pricey so my photographer was like ‘who says you can’t order pizza?

“And that made my fiancé and now he wants to do a buffet of Chick-fil-A, pizza and donuts.

“I agreed with him that I think that sounds like a fun time.

“All of us are going to double fist Big Macs and pizza.”

She also shared her inspiration behind the idea – a picture of Donald Trump next to a table covered with McDonald’s and Burger King which he served to a college team at the White House.

A screenshot of the woman’s post was shared to Reddit, where it has received more than 500 votes and dozens of comments from readers who were divided by the idea.

Whilst some branded it “tacky”, others said it “sounds fun.”

One person wrote: “Tbh I don’t really see anything wrong with this, especially if they tell guests beforehand.

“They said they wanted a very non-traditional wedding and if this is what they want, so be it.

“Besides, wedding food is expensive and I wouldn’t mind downing a Big Mac.”

Another said: “If organised well it could be alright but from the wording, I worry they’re just gonna call Dominos on the day and ask for 50 pizzas. Making life hell for the two minimum wage workers on shift.”

A third said: “Would be fun as a midnight snack (my fiancé and I are serving hot dogs and donuts) but not for the main meal.”

And: “I support people thinking outside of the box and having a non-traditional wedding. I went to a wedding that had a buffet of BBQ and it was just as fun as the ‘fancy’ catered weddings I’ve been to,” added a fourth.

Someone else revealed that they ordered pizzas on their wedding day, but not because they’re “super fun”, but because they got married with 20 guests in the middle of the coronavirus pandemic.

They said: “Definitely not my first choice of catering! But when everything else is canceled or restricted, sometimes you’ve just got to sit in a park with 20 of your closest friends, order everyone a pizza and fill a paddling pool of ice with tins of gin.
