Amber Heard Welcomes Daughter via Surrogate

Amber Heard took fans by surprise on Thursday night when she announced that she was a new mum to an adorable baby girl.

The 35-year-old actress told her Instagram followers she welcomed the baby via surrogate in April and wanted to do things on her ‘own terms.’

Alongside her lengthy post, Amber shared an adorable snap of her cuddling her firstborn, who she revealed she’d named Oonagh Paige Heard.

The child’s middle name is a sweet tribute to Amber’s mother Paige Heard, who Amber previously told had died ‘too early’ last year.

Speaking of her loss at the time, Amber admitted she was completely bereft to lose her mother who she described as a ‘beautiful, gentle soul.’

Paying her respects on social media, Amber wrote: I am heartbroken and devastated beyond belief at the loss of my mom, Paige Heard. She left us too early, clasping onto the memory of her beautiful, gentle soul.
“She will be missed from the very depths of our hearts forever. Her unflinching, open heart made her the most beautiful woman I had ever known.”

Amber went on to say she was in ‘unbelievably pain’ but had been ‘reminded of what survives us all, love’.

Revealing how she continued to be effected by the loss, Amber also took to social media on what would have been her mum’s birthday.

“Nothing will ever lessen how much I miss her or will miss being able to tell her happy birthday. Here’s to all the mamas out there,” she wrote.

Last night, Amber revealed that she was now a mother herself after welcoming her baby girl.

After bestowing her mum’s name on the child, the baby’s first name, Oonagh, also has a sweet meaning.

The name is of Irish origin and means ‘lamb.’
