Shilpa Shetty breaks silence amid husband’s porn charges

Shilpa Shetty has shared a statement on Twitter amid her husband, Raj Kundra, being arrested on suspicion of ‘producing and broadcasting porn films’ – which is illegal in India.

Raj – who has denied the allegations – was detained by cops in Mumbai, in July, who claimed there is “sufficient evidence” he is a “key conspirator” within a porn ring.

And now, Bollywood actress Shilpa – who appeared on the UK edition of Celebrity Big Brother in 2007 – has declared that she will “never explain” as that is the mantra she lives by.

Taking to Twitter on Monday, to address her fans, the star asked for privacy and told that she is a “proud law-abiding Indian citizen.” Shilpa, 46, claimed that “there have been a lot of rumours and accusations” and added that she has “full faith in the Mumbai Police & the Indian judiciary.

” On two images uploaded on the micro-blogging site, Sahasa Veerudu Sagara Kanya actress Shilpa penned: “Yes! The past few days have been challenging, on every front. There have been a lot of rumours and accusations.

A lot of unwarranted aspersions on me cast by the media and (not so) well wishers as well.

“A lot of trolling/ questions posed… not only to me but also to my family.”

Explaining how she plans to address the drama, she added: “MY STAND… I HAVE NOT COMMENTED YET and will continue to refrain from doing so on this case as it is subjudice, so please stop attributing false quotes on my behalf. “Reiterating my philosophy, as a celebrity ‘Never complain, never explain’.

All I will say is, as it’s an on-going investigation, I have full faith in the Mumbai Police & the Indian judiciary. “As a family, we are taking recourse to all our available legal remedies.

“But, until then I humbly request you – especially as a MOTHER – to respect our privacy for my children’s sake and request to to refrain from commenting on half-baked information without verifying the veracity of the same.

“I am a proud law-abiding Indian citizen and hardworking professional for the last 29 years.

People have put their faith in ME & I’ve never let anyone down. “So, importantly I request you to respect my family’s and ‘my right’ to privacy in these times. We don’t deserve a media trial.

Please let the law take its course.” Shilpa then signed off with “Satyamev Jayate” – which translates to truth alone triumphs – the country of India’s motto that was adopted following the country gaining independence in 1950. She then added: “With Positivity and Gratitude, Shilpa Shetty Kundra.”
