A couple with two children crossed the sea to India on Friday. 39 people, primarily women and children, have arrived on the Indian shore in search of safety. Sri Lanka is now experiencing a downturn. As a result, a large number of people are crossing the Tamil Nadu-India border.

The 81-billion-dollar economy of Sri Lanka is in peril. The government is about to fail on its debts, which are more than its foreign reserves. Several elements fuelled the disaster, from the debt trap to inflation.

Sri Lanka has received a $1 billion loan from India to aid with the country’s economic woes. The Indian High Commission in Colombo announced the loan of two more gasoline ships on Wednesday. Sri Lanka also receives grains from India. Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin informed the Center on Thursday that his state is prepared to supply essential supplies to Sri Lanka, including food and life-saving pharmaceuticals. All they need is the Indian High Commission’s permission to distribute.
