New anti-gun violence measures will be presented by US President Biden

On Monday, President Joe Biden was expected to unveil new gun control measures in the wake of mounting public anxiety over gun crime and untraceable “ghost weapons” that can be 3D printed at home.

Two people familiar with Biden’s address told NBC News that his speech will likely contain executive orders on gun restriction, ghost guns, and other areas of firearms regulation.

On Monday, Biden was expected to name a new nominee to lead the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives.

When Republican opponents banded together to protect the right to bear arms, the White House withdrew its last candidate, 25-year ATF veteran David Chipman.

Chipman works for Giffords, the organisation formed by Gabrielle Giffords, a former Arizona congresswoman who was slain in 2011. The organization’s goal is to put an end to gun violence and save lives. Chipman has been labelled a Second Amendment opponent by Senator Mitch McConnell.

Supporters of gun control chastised the Biden administration for failing to fight hard enough for Chipman’s replacement and for taking so long to do it.

The political wrangling comes at a time when gun violence is on the increase in a number of big cities.

Biden was also anticipated to introduce a fresh round of anti-ghost gun legislation.

Many big cities have shown improved recovery rates. They don’t have serial numbers, so authorities can track them and run background checks on them. They’re also made of plastic, so they won’t set off metal detectors.
