Russia appoints a new Ukrainian general.
Army General Alexander Dvornikov, the director of Russia’s Southern Military District, has been chosen theatre commander of Russia’s military campaign in Ukraine, according to a US official and a European official.
When President Vladimir Putin ordered forces to Syria in September 2015 to support Syrian President Bashar al-government, Assad’s Dvornikov was the first commander of Russian military operations in the nation.
From September 2015 to June 2016, when Dvornikov was in charge of Syria, Russian planes aided the Assad regime and its supporters.
They surrounded rebel-held eastern Aleppo, bombing densely populated districts and killing many civilians. Syrian government forces took control of the city in December 2016.
He was a part of Russia’s extended pacification campaign throughout the Cold War.
