The Google Doodle honors Spanish opera diva Montserrat Caballé

Today’s Google Doodle is a lovely tribute to opera diva Montserrat Caballé, who is well known for her duet with Freddie Mercury.

Caballé was born in Barcelona on April 12, 1933, as Mara de Montserrat Bibiana Concepción Caballé I Folch. She has loved music since she was a child, and she has attended music school and taken singing lessons.

Montserrat Caballé made her professional opera debut in 1956, shortly after relocating to Switzerland, as a substitute member in a staging of Puccini’s La bohème.

During the next decade, she steadily rose in prominence across Europe.

In 1965, Cabellé got her big break when she was invited to a performance.
