‘I made mistakes,’ Bill Gates says of cheating on ex-wife Melinda.

Bill Gates appeared to indicate in a recent stunning interview that he was the principal reason for the divorce of his 27-year marriage to Melinda Gates.

“Were you unfaithful in your marriage?” the Microsoft founder was asked while promoting his new book with Today presenter Savannah Guthrie. “Was this a contributing factor in the divorce?”

In response to this simple question, Bill just stated, “I definitely made mistakes, and I accept responsibility.”

“I don’t believe going into the particulars at this time is beneficial,” Bill said, “but certainly, I caused anguish, and I feel terrible about it.”

Bill’s comments come about a year after he and his ex-wife Melinda announced their divorce. At the time, Bill admitted to having an affair with a Microsoft employee “almost 20 years ago.”

“Those are issues Bill needs to face,” Melinda told CBS Sunday Morning in March when asked if Bill’s adultery was the cause of their divorce.
