Dame Deborah James has accomplished more in 12 days.

The writer has raised a staggering £6.4 million — £7.5 million if Gift Aid is factored in — been awarded a Damehood, hosted Prince William for tea, released her second book, which went to No 1 on Amazon, released a sold-out charity T-shirt, and had a gorgeous rose named after her.

After disclosing she is getting end-of-life care at her parents’ house in Woking, Surrey, the courageous 40-year-old has won the hearts of the nation.

She was appointed a Dame in a day, in an unprecedented move, after a campaign launched to honor her and Buckingham Palace, Kensington Palace, and No10 “moved heaven and earth” to make it happen.

The mother of two has been flooded with letters from admirers praising her bravery and thanking her for her efforts to raise awareness of colon cancer.

Deborah reported in a poignant update that members of the public have addressed letters to “Dame Debs of Woking,” hoping they will reach her, appealing with the postman to “please attempt to deliver.”

“Thank you so much to all readers for their beautiful words and to those who supported the campaign to make me a Dame,” an emotional Dame Debs told.

It means everything to me and my family.”

Your donations to the BowelBabe Fund, pre-ordering my book (How to Live When You Could Be Dead), and purchasing my T-shirt have given me hope.
