The world’s billionaires have been wealthier during the pandemic.

According to Oxfam, the world’s billionaires have become wealthier in the 23 years after the commencement of the Covid crisis.

According to the charity, there are now 2,668 worldwide billionaires, 573 more than in 2020.

They are valued £10.2 trillion in total, up £3 trillion since the pandemic began.

According to Oxfam, their wealth has grown faster in the last two years than it did between 1987 and 2010.

Some have benefited from a rise in share prices as a result of rising product demand.

According to Oxfam, revenues for food and energy behemoths such as Cargill in the United States have skyrocketed.

According to Oxfam, Apple, Microsoft, Tesla, Amazon, and Alphabet (Google) generated £217 billion in earnings in 2017.

However, rising energy and food prices have caused mayhem for others. According to Oxfam, up to 263 million additional people might be driven into extreme poverty this year.

“There can be no excuse for governments not to address colossal earnings and riches,” said Oxfam GB CEO Danny.

“Implementing wealth taxes would generate enormous sums that might assist vulnerable populations in surviving this crisis.”

“A windfall tax on energy firms would be a good place to start in the UK.”
