IHC orders the release of 70 arrested PTI personnel.

A Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf delegation appeared before the Islamabad High Court (IHC) on Wednesday, and the court granted the release of 70 PTI members who had been imprisoned.

A plea against police harassment of PTI members was heard by the high court today, and the judge questioned why they were being harassed.

Islamabad’s deputy commissioner said the political party had requested authorization for the protracted march. According to him, the National Counter Terrorism Authority (NACTA) had received a warning that a foreign agency would attack the political party in issue, and they were refused authorization to conduct the investigation.

At least 70 people have been arrested in Islamabad so far on suspicion, he claimed.

Chief Justice Athar Minallah of the IHC responded to this by saying that the police might seize a bail from someone suspected of breaking the Metro.

No one may be harassed based only on suspicion as long as no one has acted on it. “You should free them by taking a bond from them,” he instructed.

70 PTI prisoners were released on a surety bond by the International Criminal Court (IHC) and asked to notify the court tomorrow if anybody had a case against them (May 26).
