What to learn from Alina Khan’s Cannes fashion show!
During Monday’s Cannes Film Festival showing of Joyland, the tale of a young guy and a transgender dancer navigating love and life, the whole country and its film industry were given a standing ovation. It seemed only fitting that the Pakistani film industry’s biggest stars and crew would don traditional eastern garb to represent their country at this historic event.
The Joyland team strolled the red carpet in brilliantly colored sequined and embroidered shararas, saris, and shalwar-kameez ensembles. Sarwat Gilani, Sania Saeed, and Sana Jafri all looked stunning in their traditional Pakistani attire, but Alina Khan was the star of the show since she nailed the assignment. Whether it was a skirt-and-blouse combination, a cheerful red saree with gold embellishments, or a gorgeous turquoise silk gown, the actor’s outfits were unique, current, and traditional all at once.
This is something to keep in mind. To learn more about Alina’s Cannes attire, go here.
Saim Sadiq’s award-winning film Darling features the actor in a pink crop top with butterfly embellishments for the film’s picture call. It was an eye-catching outfit for Alina, which included a bright pink shirt, a see-through crop top with balloon sleeves, and gold butterfly design on the front. The top’s two colors of pink were matched with an orange-flecked yellow skirt. A daytime-appropriate high ponytail and dangling beaded earrings were the finishing touches on her ensemble.
With pink and gold decorations on the edges of her bright red sari, Alina made her way down the red carpet. Adding a dash of gold to the outfit was a pink blouse with gold accents. A gorgeous necklace completed her appearance, showing off her natural curls. In spite of the criticism that the ensembles looked like bridal clothing, we think Alina’s traditional sari was a statement piece at the international film festival.
Alina opted to steal the show in Kamiar Rokni’s creation for the international showing of Joyland, which the crew travelled to France for. A turquoise silk gown with gold embroidery on the top worn by the Darling actress was lovely and classy. She finished her appearance by keeping her long hair split in the center and loosely wavy.
