Rain is expected to fall on ‘most days’ in the UK, threatening the Jubilee Bank Holiday.
The Met Office has released its most accurate Platinum Jubilee forecast to date – and it’s not good.
Early forecasts suggested that the upcoming Bank Holiday weekend could be the hottest of the year, with highs of up to 28 degrees Celsius, as Britons prepared to celebrate Queen Elizabeth’s reign with picnics, barbecues, and street parties.
However, many of those plans may be thwarted as the highly anticipated weekend – with its accompanying public holidays – approaches.
Meteorologists warned yesterday that the Jubilee forecast is a “loose cannon” and that predicting the weather for next weekend would be “difficult.”
However, the most recent update to the five-day forecast indicates that showers will develop “most days” beginning Wednesday.
The northwest, in particular, has been identified as having a higher likelihood of “organized rain.”
However, there is a silver lining: between the frequent showers, the temperature will most likely be warmer than usual, and in some areas, it will be dry long enough to throw some sausages on the grill.
Over the weekend, Met Office Deputy Chief Meteorologist Chris Bulmer warned that a plume of warm air had the potential to bring “heavy rain” to some parts of the UK.
