Storms and heavy rain in the UK,

Storms and heavy rain in the UK will give way to a warm weekend with highs in the 20s.

Heavy rain, thunderstorms, and stinging winds are expected to pummel the UK over the next few days before temperatures rise to a comfortable 20 degrees Celsius by the end of the week.

The UK is in the midst of three days of showers and unstable weather predicted by the Met Office as a result of a “revved up Jetstream” bringing storms from the Atlantic.

People will have had to get out their coats and umbrellas after high temperatures for much of May and a warm weekend due to unexpectedly poor conditions.

A “small tornado” was even seen in the sky over England.

“Windy on Wednesday and Thursday before things gently settle down from the south on Friday and the promise of some sunshine on Saturday,” said Met Office forecaster Clare Nasir.

“Rain then makes inroads over Scotland, Wales, and the West Country during the early hours of the morning (today), and yes, a lively end to the night here and a cool one towards the South East under some clearer sky but better weather to start the day on Wednesday,” she continued.

However, this is not the situation in Scotland, where it is a wet and windy morning. Away from Shetland, you may get some better skies before the cloud builds and rain falls. Rain is falling in Cumbria and Northumberland as well.
