A bystander described how “instinct kicked in” when he tackled two men in Hull after a pensioner claimed he had been robbed. According to reports, he was able to pin one to the ground until police arrived.
A brave bystander described how “instinct kicked in” as he tackled two men and threw one to the ground after a pensioner said he had been robbed.
Kris that he was able to trip the man in the city centre and hold him while another escaped after the alleged robbery.
At that point, police were called to the scene near the Prospect Centre.
“I was walking from Prospect Centre towards Heron Foods when I noticed two males walking quickly towards me,” Kris explained. An elderly gentleman came around the corner and exclaimed, “Those lads have robbed me!” I grabbed both of them, but one escaped, so I tripped the one I still had a hold of and lowered him to the floor. I pinned him to the ground and knelt on his hip to keep him there.
“Because he couldn’t move, he wasn’t violent; instead, he pleaded his innocence.” I inquired about the gentleman’s well-being. He appeared agitated and to be a vulnerable man around 70 years old.”
Kris claims he reacted out of rage after seeing them appear to target him.
