Former Bolivian President Jeanine ez has been sentenced for a ‘coup.’

Former Bolivian President Jeanine ez has been sentenced to ten years in prison for orchestrating a coup to depose her predecessor, Evo Morales.

A court found ez, who was in office from 2019 to 2020, guilty of making “constitutionally unconstitutional decisions.”

ez has stated numerous times that she is the victim of a political vendetta.

Mr Morales resigned and fled Bolivia after the army chief urged him to do so amid protests over allegations of vote rigging.

On Friday, ez, 54, was found guilty by a La Paz court. The court ordered that she serve her sentence in a city women’s prison.

The former president has condemned what she calls “political correctness.”

Mas won a landslide victory in the 2020 presidential and congressional elections, paving the way for Morales to return to Bolivia from Argentina and assume party leadership.

His colleague Luis Arce was elected president, and he stated in an interview that he would follow his own political path.

After Mr Morales fled, ez became caretaker president as the most senior senator. Members of the Mas party, on the other hand, accused her of plotting his demise in collusion with police and military figures.

In March 2021, she was arrested.

Following the verdict on Friday, ez’s defence said she would seek justice through international organizations.
