After being rescued by the RSPCA Lurcher, a’skin and bones’ dog became unrecognizable.
A lurcher who was found wandering along a bridal path as ‘skin and bones’ is now enjoying life in her new home.
Emily weighed just over 10kg when she was rescued and taken in by the RSPCA’s Danaher Animal Home near Braintree.
“Emily was found as a stray, wandering along a bridal path in March and was taken to a local vet before coming to us,” said Danaher’s deputy animal centre manager Louisa Duranti.
She weighed only 10.8kg and was severely malnourished.
“We put her on a special diet, feeding her little and often to gradually build up her weight and strength, and she gained nearly 5kg in just a few weeks.”
“We had been thinking about getting a rescue dog for a long time, but due to previously being in rental accommodation, we were unable to,” said Mark from Braintree.
We saw Emily’s story and pictures after we moved and started following Danaher online, and it broke our hearts; we felt compelled to apply to help her.
Emily is doing fantastic and has almost completely settled in. We’ve trained her to eat full meals, and while she still has anxious moments, especially at night, we’ve come a long way.
