Storms, heavy rain kill at least 17 in Sindh, KP; hundreds injured

Stormy winds and heavy rain caused widespread destruction across parts of Pakistan, killing people, injuring dozens and disrupting power supply and traffic in several districts.

Authorities in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Sindh issued emergency alerts as rescue teams cleared roads, shifted the injured to hospitals and assessed further damage.

Two dead, 31 injured in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa

The Provincial Disaster Management Authority said two people died and 31 others were injured in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa during the last 24 hours. The injured included eight children and seven women, according to the PDMA report.

Incidents were reported in Bannu, Peshawar, Charsadda and Nowshera, while officials said more damage was feared and details were still being collected.

Bannu recorded the highest number of incidents in the province. One person died and 28 others were injured after roofs and walls collapsed due to strong winds and rain.

The injured in Bannu included seven children and seven women, according to the PDMA spokesperson.

Lightning kills one in Peshawar

One person died after being struck by lightning in Peshawar, according to the PDMA report. In Nowshera, one person was injured when an electric pole fell.

In Charsadda, two people, including a child, were injured when a wall collapsed.

Rescue 1122 said 15 people were injured in Peshawar and surrounding areas after walls, solar panels, trees, poles and electric wires fell during strong winds. Most accidents were reported in Malik Tariq Qila, Kohat Road, Chamkani, Matni, Baksho Pul, Azakhel, Wahid Ghari and Gur Mandi.
