The Tony Awards have introduced a ‘no violence’ policy.
The producers of the 75th Annual Tony Awards have issued a warning to attendees following actor Will Smith’s onstage Oscars slap, stating that the next awards event has a “strict no violence policy.”
The warning was included in the FAQ section of a letter sent out to ticket holders for the June 12 event at Radio City Music Hall by the firm.
The letter stated, “In the event of an incident, the culprit will be ejected from the event immediately.”
The letter also emphasized a number of additional requirements, including the event’s dress code and the Covid-19 policy, which requires visitors to be fully vaccinated prior to attending.
Smith shocked Hollywood and the world when he slapped comedian Chris Rock onstage during the 94th Academy Awards live broadcast on March 27 over a joke about his wife’s shaved head.
Despite the surprise slap, the Pursuit of Happyness actor was permitted to attend the ceremony and later received an Academy Award for his performance in King Richard.
