Bushra Bibi’s close friend Farah Khan has left Pakistan.

LAHORE: Farah Khan, a close friend of former first lady Bushra Bibi, has left for Dubai in the early hours of Monday, following the dissolution of the National Assembly (NA) in the wake of the no-trust move against Prime Minister Imran Khan. Farah Khan’s husband, Jamil Gujjar, had already left the country in the wake of the country’s current political situation.

Farah travelled for Dubai around 3 a.m. on Monday, according to Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) sources.

According to FIA sources, they couldn’t prevent someone from leaving the country unless a [restraining] order had been issued by a government authority.

Farah Khan has been accused of corruption and kickbacks by the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari and the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) Vice-President Maryam Nawaz, particularly in the transfer and posting of officials in Punjab.

Former Punjab governor Chaudhry Mohammad Sarwar made similar charges, claiming that significant sums of money were being minted for transfers and postings in the state.

Previous Punjab chief minister Sardar Usman Buzdar has denied the former governor’s charges, claiming that all transfers and postings were done in an open manner.

Imran Khan’s close adviser Shehbaz Gill, on the other side, dismissed the charges, saying the opposition had turned to Bushra Bibi’s acquaintance because they couldn’t find anything else to attack.
