Jaaved Jaaferi has joined the Hindi language march.
Last week, Ajay Devgn and Kannada actor Kiccha Sudeep had a Twitter spat about Hindi’s status as a national language. Actor Jaaved Jaaferi has recently spoken out on the issue of national language. He agreed with Ajay that Hindi is India’s national language.
On the other hand, Hindi is not and has never been the official language of India. Although the union government employs Hindi and English as official languages, India does not have a national language.
“There is no single language in the constitution,” Jaaved told Indian Express. That’s what I noticed. I was looking at the recognized Indian languages and noticed that the constitution does not identify any language as the national language. That’s what I found out. I even assumed that Hindi was India’s official language. However, no language is declared as a national language by the constitution.”
He said, “See, the concept is about unity in difference.” That was and remains the country’s natural beauty. There are many religions in the country, but no singular national religion. There is no national language. You may have a national flower or bird. The country’s future is a simulation of everything that no other country, in my opinion, has.”
