The driver was killed in a crash at the same bus stop where he killed a woman eight years before.
A parent convicted of a hit-and-run death over a decade ago died at the same South London bus stop where he killed a hotel receptionist in December 2012.
Carpenter Nathan Davis, a 35-year-old father of two, crashed his Audi into a bus stop on Streatham High Road in Norbury, killing Veronica Chango-Alvarez, 31, and seriously injuring a 51-year-old man, according to My London. Davis was sentenced to five years and four months in prison.
Chango-Alvarez died in the arms of her brother, who later slammed the “ridiculous” term imposed on Davis, who was also barred from driving for six years and required to take an additional driving test.
According to reports at the time, authorities were forced to search for Davis when he fled one scene after crashing into a Volkswagen, then abandoned his Audi after inflicting the carnage at the bus stop.
Davis, of Oaklands Estate in Clapham, was murdered on September 13, 2020, after he sped down the same 30mph route on his black Yamaha motorcycle and collided with the advertising board at the bus stop, the Inner South London Coroner’s court heard on Thursday.
He was flung approximately 25 metres away into the opposite sidewalk, where he sustained “many open fractures and significant internal bleeding.”
He was transported to Tooting’s St George’s Hospital and placed in intensive care, but he died 12 days later from multiple organ failure.
