Rain is expected to fall across the UK next week, threatening the Jubilee weekend.

Brits looking forward to an extended Bank Holiday weekend to celebrate the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee may be met with rain and cooler temperatures.

The Met Office forecast for next week says there is a chance of sunshine if a high pressure system dominates to the west of the country, moving in from the Atlantic, but it is too early to tell.

However, if a low pressure system over the Azores approaches, it is expected to bring rains to the entire country, with Met Office forecaster Aidan McGivern describing it as a “loose gun.”

The United Kingdom will have a four-day Bank Holiday weekend beginning on Friday.

According to Mr. McGivern, colder and rainier weather will begin to arrive on Sunday, and it will get rather unsettled and unpredictable by the end of the week.

“The trend toward more unsettled weather continues later on Sunday as low pressure over Scandinavia begins to drift westwards appearing into the North Sea, containing a lot of cloud and some rain which may well affect the North Sea coast, parts of eastern England, and parts of eastern Scotland during Monday,” the forecaster said.

“Once again, the driest and brightest weather will be to the west, closer to the high pressure. Sunny spells and a pleasant sensation in the sun, but a shower in the west is always possible.
