A Champions League ‘nightmare’ cost British friends £15k.

Five friends have revealed their “nightmare” after spending nearly £15,000 on a trip to Paris to watch the Champions League final.

After paying £500 each to travel to and watch the match from a dedicated fan zone in the Place de la Nation, the Liverpool fans claimed they were sprayed with tear gas, burgled, and had their car stolen.

After Sam Houghton, 23, his twin brother Jake Houghton, 23, Joe Wells, 24, his brother Tom Wells, 21, and Michael Kynaston, 23, left the area, things went downhill.

The group arrived in Paris via the Euro Tunnel on Saturday and arrived at the Fan Zone in the city centre at 1.30pm, where they say they peacefully watched the game with other fans.

However, French police sprayed them with tear gas as they exited the area without apparent provocation.

When they left the area and took an Uber back to their apartment, they discovered it had been broken into and Sam’s Ford Focus had been stolen.

“When we left the apartment at 12.30pm on Saturday, a man on a moped approached us and asked if we were going to the match – we said yes and he drove off quite quickly, which we thought was strange,” said one of the witnesses.
